Awakening the Spring air

John O’Donohue once said “when one flower blooms spring awakens everywhere

That moment in life when you realize that you’re just living in nothing but walls, walls created by your mind. Created by how we think we should be around others because we worry how others may see us.  That moment when we realize we were never ourselves, we were never the way we should have been; become someone everyone else wanted you to be. That’s the moment when we are free from our inner walls we were always living in and building higher and higher. Free in becoming who we were always meant to be.

To be able become someone we always were important because then we realize who we really are. We have to be ourselves, because it would be a way we should have always been; a blooming flower, the way that a candle so small and may seem insignificant be so bright in a dark room. That’s why we have to be consumed with fire when it comes to expressing who we are. To be as strong as fire, is to burn long and leave an impression. To become able to share to others an amazing personality that we tend to hide under the bright lights of a school classroom or overall public places, can give others a smile on their face as they get to be able to meet someone with a unique personality.

We tend to become someone were not and imprint on our minds that we have to give first impression and worry of what many may think of us. But at the end of the day we have to learn to bloom like the flowers in the grass. So we can be able to make that public place not seem like a hollow room with ordinary people, but like a flower awakening the spring air.

  1. ah kelly, it's so true! people just need to learn to be themselves. no one is ever going to get anywhere in life if they go about pretending to be someone they're not. it just makes them unlikeable and people don't like being around fakes. plus, when you're yourself, it's a lot easier to remember how to act, because, well, it's YOU! :D

  2. Your imagery is really lovely in this, Kelly! It really helps further emphasize your message and provides a beautiful image that helps give the piece a comforting and inspiring feel.
And it IS important to be true to who you are and who you want to be, as well as being passionate. If you like something, don't keep it a secret because you fear judgment - stand up and proclaim it to the world. And you need to have passion if you want to truly make your voice heard. Be who you are, say who you are, and don't be stifled by the expectations of other people.

  3. I think you have a great point! I love how in depth you get with the quote. It really makes me think, you are so true, most people these days aren’t really themselves, there is no longer an “original” but isn’t that what high school is for? To find yourself, because that seems to happen a lot during those years. x) Though you do have a point, people really need to find who they are, because how will someone ever be accepted if they’re not themselves.

  4. Kelly your absolutely right people need to be themselves . If werent our selves that doesn't make us unique. If we would put people in a room some would have the same personality. And if we decide to not be like the others we stand out more! I really like your quote GOOD JOB kelly!
P.s can you read my blog (: thank you kelly (:

  5. Kelly i agree with your post and i loved the imagery you included -the example of the candle and its flame lighting a dark room. (: Like you said "we should be ourselves" because we contribute something that nobody else has, we are individuals who are completely different from others-everyone stands out in their own way. People don't have the exact same characteristics. People are not the same, every single person carries something that makes them, themselves. We grow as a person with different attributes that accommodates ourselves and others. Some people pretend to be people that they're not, they hide the real person within them and don't excel their attributes-that's why everyone should be themselves.

  6. Kelly! I agree with your post. Many of us grow up thinking we must fit the mold society has built for us. Yet many don't realize that being different allows us to stand out of the crowd and be our own person.
